Happy Happy Birthday!

Here's a card inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. It's not exactly envelope friendly...but great for delivering in person.

"Frosting" is made from mulberry flowers and pom pom trim.
The cupcake is made from a half of Styrofoam ball in a mini cupcake wrapper.
I made it into an easel card.

Paris Theme Baby Plaque

A friend was needing a baby shower gift for her niece...The baby's room was pink and gray, but no definite theme. I suggested Paris...here's where the project went from there.
Poodle is from Cricut cartridge "Create a Critter"

My friend liked it, but did think the poodle's sideways nose was a bit weird

I printed the chandelier (from ScrapNFonts) and Eiffel Tower (from Lettering Delights) in gray on metallic silver paper. I used Pink Pirouette Card stock from Stampin' Up! sponged with Victorian Velvet distress ink.

Cuppy Cake Box

I purchased Cupcake Box Set from My Scrap Chick recently. I thought it was just shaped like a cupcake, but found out that it has an insert to actually hold a cupcake...cool, huh? Here's what I did with it for my first run through.

Notice the Circle insert in the base to hold a cupcake.

Small card to coordinate.
Card slides out of the base.
Together

The only thing I would do different is choose papers that contrasted more. Although these are coordinating, they just don't "pop."

Itty Bitty Paper Piecing

I cut these out during the Summer Olympics, placed the pieces in muffin tins, which I covered with Glad PressNSeal wrap and then while watching during the evenings, I assembled them. They came out so cute, but boy did they have itty bitty pieces!

It is a huge challenge for me to break from the colors I see in the main photos. Not too adventurous, I guess. I lived a bit on the wild side in a few of these...even changing the blue suggestion for purple. I know, crazy, huh?
She's quite cute...background option #1.

Background option #2

This was my favorite, probably because I cut the image at a larger scale. Was a bit easier to work with.

Still haven't figured out the right base to put this one on. She reminds me of Madeline.
All piecings are from My Scrap Chick, Tiddly Inks Special Bundle.

Merry Christmas 2012

This year's Christmas Card
Inside of card: "Everyone needs a Stable background!"
With a verse that says: "He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge, the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure." Isaiah 33:6

The button and baby were cut out using MTC, print and cut on the Silhouette. They are raised with foam mounting tape.

All images are from "The Reason for the Season" set at Just So Scrappy.

Bubble Gum Pink

Bubblegum Machine Make Over
Another Pinterest inspired project...this time a gumball machine. I pinned this project last year sometime...and then was on the hunt for an old gumball machine at the garage sales last year to see if I could do something like it. During one of the last of the season sales, I found this!
Bubble Gum Machine Before
I took it all apart and cleaned it up.  (I worked on this as I was working on the chandelier...hopefully that explains some of the weird pieces.)
Tearing it all apart.
Then I spray painted the metal pieces. I chose not to paint the "works" of the machine because 1. I didn't refer back to the original pin to see that they had and 2.I wanted it to function and I was afraid the paint would jam the mechanism.

While waiting for the paint to dry, I worked...and worked...and worked on getting the Jelly Belly logo off the glass. THAT did NOT go well! I tried acetone, steel wool, turpentine, soaking it, scrubbing it, sanding it. I finally got most of the evidence off that the logo was ever there, but it left the glass scratched and foggy.
Final project.
I cut some coordinating vinyl to cover the scratched parts and labeled it treats. Had to take a couple of darts in the oval to get it to lay somewhat flat.
My sad attempt at the label.
Before and After
Gave this as a gift to my Sister in Law for her birthday. Thought it might be a good potty training tool filled with M&Ms for her toddler.
